Gay Media Group Turns 5 and Gets a Fabulous Make-over!
Gay Media Group marks their 5-year anniversary this month (that's 35 in internet years... 29 in gay years) with a re-launch of the GayMediaGroup.com web site. Their web site may have a fabulous new look, but the company's commitment to helping the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community succeed on the web remains the same.
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Gay Media Group as something to celebrate. The company has proudly provided web site design, hosting, search engine optimization and marketing services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community for 5 years -- that's 35 in "internet years" (29 in "gay years"). How do they plan to celebrate? With a fabulous make-over! -- of their web site, of course.
The company was officially founded by a group of web programmers, designers and media specialists in Santa Barbara, California in the summer of 2003 with the goal of providing web development services to clients and developing their own online properties to support the GLBT community.
Their first venture was GMG Radio, an online radio station for the GLBT community. Listeners could choose from 4 different playlists each day. A typical day might feature an 3-hour set of upbeat gay anthems, new dance mixes, mellow work music and "Flashback" that channel that played all the number one songs of a single year. The popular station was carried by dozens of community web sites. The station ran for several years until changing music industry licensing agreements made it impractical for a small online radio station to exist.
Gay Media Group assists a number of non-profit organizations including the Los Angeles based Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing. GLEH constructs and maintains high-quality, affordable residential communities that provide a safe nurturing environment for GLBT older adults.
GMGs newest project is GeoGay.com, an online resource for gay business, events, and classified ads scheduled to officially launch in late 2008. The site is already working with gay friendly businesses offering free directory listings on the site. It is a great way for gay businesses to increase their exposure on the web.
The core of Gay Media Group's business remains custom web site design and programming. Their projects range from small brochure sites to large e-commerce stores, community sites and directories. The company has branches in Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and Boston.
